The free book distribution activity is a key arm of Kabwata Baptist Church and is rolled out by the Book/ Publishing Ministry. The objective of this activity is to bless Christians with good Christian literature, especially to those who would not afford it, and to make it available to non-Christians who need it, but would not financially prioritise it because they are yet to be converted. It also assists to close the wide lack of sound Christian literature in Zambia.
The ministry has been distributing assorted free Christian books since 2019, in collaboration with Love Packages, USA. The free books are given to different church ministries and religious groups. So far, over 80 churches in Zambia have received free literature which includes bibles. In addition, the distribution has also been extended to non-religious institutions such as the Zambia Police and learning institutions where there are big numbers of Christians in need of literature.
Most of the literature is pre-used, but some of it is brand new. Love Packages, USA sorts out what they donate to KBC, “ They do their best to only send that which is in a good state and also doctrinally congruent to what we believe. We are grateful to them for taking the time to do this,” says Conrad Mbewe, Pastor of Kabwata Baptist Church. When the books arrive in Zambia, the department under publishing ministry does more sorting out and packs them accordingly in readiness for distribution.
